Security and Alerts

Security Alerts

With our new online banking site comes a new set of alerts available to you - Security Alerts and Account Alerts! Both types are set individually, so you can choose what alerts you want to receive and how.

Security Alerts are very similar to what you are used to now: they'll notify you of a successful login, password change, and so forth. Account Alerts are a bit different; you can customize them to notify you of things like deposits or withdrawals, balance updates, and more. Best of all, you're able to set the alerts for each of your accounts separately. For example, if you want to receive weekly balance alerts for your Chequing account but not your Savings, just set them accordingly!

The most important item to note is your existing alerts will not transfer over to our new platform. You will need to set up your alerts once you access our new Online Banking site.

One Time Passcodes for Two-Factor Authentication

On our current online banking platform, we have increased authentication in the form of the security questions you set up. You're prompted with them periodically when logging into Online Banking. Those will be retired and replaced with more secure One Time Passcodes (OTPs).

OTPs are triggered by events and transactions that benefit from a bit more protection. The OTP is automatically generated and sent to the email or mobile number on file, and you’ll have to enter the password before the transaction can proceed. Here are the basic facts you need to know:

  • You can decide how to receive the OTP: either by email or text.
  • OTP’s will expire 10 minutes after they're sent, at which point you’ll need to trigger a new one.
  • Entering the OTP incorrectly 5 times will lock you out of Online Banking. You will need to contact us to unlock your account.

There are a variety of actions that trigger OTPs, including your first login, changing your password, setting up AutoDeposits, and more.
